Benuban Vihar in Agartala Tripura

Benuban Vihar in Agartala Tripura, situated at a distance of 2 km north from Agartala is a small Buddhist shrine in the Kunjaban area. This shrine preserves a metal idol of Bodhisatva and Lord Buddha, which was originally created in Burma. However, the idol was later transferred to Benuban Vihar for installation into this shrine.

Buddha Jayanti, which falls on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, is celebrated with colour and fervour in this shrine. The celebration is followed by a fair, which attracts hordes of religious groups and tourists. This Buddhist temple is just a  kilometre north on Airport Road and is easily accessible via auto rickshaw or bus.
